The first of these two texts, Tackling Social Exclusion, by John Pierson, has social workers as its target audience and it is suggested that the text shows social workers how to combat the social exclusion experienced by some service users. The text is coherently organised, moving from a discussion of definitions of social exclusion through to theoretical and practical considerations. Each of the ten chapters has a similar structure, which includes a list of objectives at the beginning of the chapter and the identification of key points and additional reading at the end of the chapter.
